This week for our Genius Hour Project we went fishing at Lake Wylie. The water temperature for this lake this weekend was anywhere between 58-61 degrees. The water color was a little dingy with a green tint. Grayson caught two of his three fish on a black worm with a shaky head. The third fish was caught on a black floating trick worm. Fletcher caught all 6 of his fish on a 3-4 ft diving crank-bait. The color of the crank-bait was white on the bottom with a purple back. The purpose was to imitate a shad. Most of the fish were moving back to prepare for the spawn since the water temperature is warming up. All together it was a successful week on learning Bass behavior.

There are many things that we hope to accomplish in this project. We hope to gain more knowledge on fishing local lakes and what baits and conditions are the best for catching bass and other species. Our goal is to create a notebook that will give us an idea when we are fishing tournaments on what and when to use certain things. There are many different things that fish will like but there are certain times and places when to use them. One minute they will eat one thing and something different the next. Fishing will become a little easier if you can find a pattern and find out certain ways that will catch fish. We will record our journey on how to catch these fish and hopefully have much more knowledge when the project is over.
